Brooklyn Nets Sign Nerlens Noel to 10-Day Contract

Center bolsters frontcourt depth

Free agent Noel joins Kings after stints with Nets, Knicks

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Brooklyn Nets have signed center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract, the team announced Monday. Noel, a free agent, has previously played for the Nets, as well as the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Philadelphia 76ers.

The 29-year-old center has averaged 7.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game over his eight-year NBA career. He is expected to provide depth to the Nets' frontcourt, which has been depleted by injuries to Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons, and Nic Claxton.

"We're excited to welcome Nerlens to the team," Nets general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. "He's a proven rebounder and defender who can also contribute offensively. We believe he can help us compete for a championship this season."

Noel is expected to make his debut for the Nets in their next game, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers. He will wear jersey No. 25 for Brooklyn.

The Nets are currently 32-17 and are in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are scheduled to face the Lakers at Barclays Center on Tuesday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
